Introduction on IPO Calculator
In the third posts of this IPO series posts, I
did mention an extreme case on the difference between the IPO application costs
but both get allocated with the same number of shares.
Therefore, the purpose of this post is to explain
a way to apply or buy IPO in an efficient way and provide an IPO calculator
excel file to readers who subscribed this blog.
The following image show the structure of this
IPO calculator, explanation and guideline will be provided in the later part
of this post:
It might be a bit rigid to directly explain in
this way, so I will use a new example from the 3rd post to explain
it one more time on the way to apply IPO efficiently.
Since Flexidynamics' IPO application has ended,
let's use the latest Volcano Berhad IPO as an example.
The details of this Volcano Berhad IPO can be
obtained through IPO Summary in Bursa Malaysia, it would be look like this in
following image:
IPO Price per unit of Volcano is RM
0.35 and the
issuing house is Tricor Investor & Issuing House
(TIIH).
So key in 0.35 and TIIH inside the orange
area of this
IPO calculator Excel file.
Based on your spare money or
available bank balance inside
the 2nd row of Excel’s orange area.
For example , I will put a value of 30000 if this is my available bank balance.
So after making updates on these 3 variables,
you may see the optimized result in the green and black area.
The green area shows the number of shares and
the capital required in the most efficient way to apply IPO based on your
available bank balance.
For the case of Volcano IPO with RM30,000 spare
balance, I should subscribe 50000 units of shares (or 500 lots) only with the required capital of
RM17,500. (Excluding IPO
application fee)
Based on the calculation, you don’t have to
apply the IPO with all your available balance of RM30,000. Instead, you just
need to prepare RM17,500 with some additional fund in your bank account.
The black area value is similar to the data in
green area with additional IPO application of 100 units or 1 lot.
Following the data in black area is necessary to ensure you being located at the extreme low level
of a particular tier without being falling to previous tier.
The recent IPO such as Teladan Setia and
Flexidynamic shows a different tier list from its previous IPO balloting
results.
For example, the previous 2020 IPOs’ tier could
be between 20000 and 49900 units but it could change to 20100 and 50000 units.
So if you apply only 20000 units of shares for
this IPO and you could fall to the top of next tier which is a waste in the
efficiency of capital. Therefore, you should apply 20100 units of shares
according to the calculation in black area.
Lastly, the blue area shows the different tier calculation of two
issuing house of these IPOs. There is some distinction in the first and last
few tiers and the images shows the examples for both tiers list:
TIIH Tier List |
MIH Tier List |
You may check for the minimum required capital
to apply IPO in the lower range of the tier according to the calculation in
blue area.
Inside the Excel file, only the value in
orange area can be changed, you are not
allowed to make any changes in other areas.
